Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative provides an alternative energy purchase program for all member-owners wishing to contribute money toward a fund that will assist in the purchase of alternative or "green" energy for Iowa.
Member-owners of all classes of Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative may contribute to the alternate energy program by paying the specified contribution amount that is added to your monthly electric bill for one (1) year. Your specified monthly contribution (in increments of $2/mo.) will enroll you in the Green Pricing Program.
Prairie Winds is being offered to those member-owners in Cherokee County who are concerned about the environmental impact of current electricity generation technology. Interested member-owners in Cherokee County are asked to commit to a one (1) year pledge to purchase wind energy of 100 kWh blocks in 80-cent increments each month through Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative.
