Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative (ILEC) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of System Engineer. Position objectives and responsibilities are as follows:
- To direct, guide, or assist in the engineering activities of the Cooperative by applying technical knowledge, sound engineering judgement, and skill to ensure that the electrical system meets the present and future requirements and is rendering safe, efficient and dependable service to its member-owners at the lowest possible cost.
- To provide accurate data and recommendations to the ILEC Department Vice Presidents for the purpose of determining the electric systems present and future requirements and business and system evaluation and analysis.
- To provide direction, guidance and make recommendations to the Vice President of Operations & Engineering, and other departments regarding SCADA systems, FM/GIS system, outage handling and dispatch systems, engineering planning software and billing systems.
- To plan, organize, direct and coordinate the activities of the Engineering section of the Operations Department in accordance with established policies, plans and objectives.
Experience in the design, operation and maintenance of distribution systems, including structure loading, economic studies, material evaluation, planning studies, system protection, and project management is desired. Familiarity with mapping/GIS/FM, SCADA, AMR, and load management is preferred. The System Engineer will report to the Vice President of Operations and Engineering.
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering; is a licensed Professional Engineer, EIT certified or willing to obtain those certifications and capable of obtaining an Iowa license. Four years’ experience working for an electrical utility in an engineering capacity is desired but all applicants will be considered. Additionally, the successful candidate must possess strong analytical, computer and communication skills and also be capable of working both independently and in a team environment.
